Nature of Requirements: The following is a summary of the statement of work for this requirement.
The Correctional Service Canada has a requirement to provide every inmate with essential health care, and reasonable access to non-essential health care. CSC is looking for a Regional Psychiatric Lead (psychiatrist) who will lead a Regional Health Professional Advisory Committee (RHPAC) to coordinate and address medical practice and policy issues specific to their region, and forwarding issues with national significance to the National Health Professional Advisory Committee (NHPAC).
Objectives: The Regional Psychiatrist Lead must:
- Provide oversight and leadership for their discipline specific medical practice (primary health care or mental health care) within their region.
- Work in conjunction with the CSC Regional and National Health Services management teams and other members of the Healthcare Team to advance the healthcare of people in custody or under CSC supervision in the community, referred to herein as patients.
- Participate as a member of the NHPAC.
- Chair the Regional Health Professional Advisory Committee (RHPAC) in accordance with the CSC Medical By-Laws.
Deliverables:
- Review qualifications and training of all proposed discipline specific physicians seeking to become Medical Practitioners (primary care physicians and psychiatrists providing care under contract to CSC patients) including providing support to the evaluation teams assessing physician bids, when requested;
- Advance the quality of medical care and treatment provided across their region;
- Coordinate discussions with their discipline specific Medical Practitioners within their region on an as needed basis;
- Meet with each discipline specific Medical Practitioner Member (in person or via teleconference / videoconference) to conduct an Annual Review on an annual basis, or meet more frequently when needed to address any time sensitive matters;
