3D Printer

Imprimante 3D

Description

The National Research Council Canada (NRC) require the supply of an extra-large filament 3D printer to support the battery pack and module prototyping facility located in a new laboratory AST U91. The 3D printer will be used to make custom battery modules, packs, support frames and structures. The custom battery pack assemblies may include battery technologies developed at other AST and CEI facilities as well as future NRC collaborations. The 3D printer will allow rapid creation of prototyping and working model. This relevant expertise and skills will be invaluable for future NRC collaborations within the newly forming electric vehicle value chain. This facility will help develop solutions for industry, including SME’s, to address gaps around battery pack and modules manufacturing challenges, including cooling strategies, materials, battery density, pack burden, and second life use.
