Copyright Market Analysis

Analyse du marché du droit d'auteur

Description

The Copyright Board (CB), an administrative tribunal and economic regulator mandated by the Copyright Act (the Act), intervenes in three areas. It ensures the approval of prices for content whose rights are managed by collective companies, the granting of licenses for the use of content whose rights owners cannot be found and intervention by request in the event a collective society and users cannot agree on royalties. It also establishes fair and equitable licensing and pricing through rapid and efficient processes. The Commission is seeking to compile information from potential suppliers to prepare a report on the profile of the copyright industry in Canada. The information collected will help the Commission to better consider the needs and state of the copyright market.
