Multi species artificial reef development

Aménagement récifs artificiels multi espèces

Description

The work for the development of multi species artificial reefs in the Matane area includes, but is not limited to, transporting the concrete artificial reefs supplied by DFO and currently stored at the Béton Provincial Inc. plant in Matane; installing 190 concrete artificial reefs; raking and leveling the seabed prior to placing the concrete artificial reefs; and installing them using floating equipment adapted to the required water depths. The work must be carried out with the participation of professional divers, and a survey must be performed using GPS to precisely locate the concrete artificial reefs and ensure that all 190 units are installed according to the coordinates shown on the plan. Following the contractor’s survey confirming the position of the artificial reefs and acceptance of the work by the Department’s representative, the latter will conduct a complete bathymetric survey of the site. No later than 30 days after completion of the work, the contractor must prepare a post construction report including a description of the work method, photographs and videos taken during the transport and installation of the artificial reefs, and the survey results.
